AM & PM Shift Barista

Job description

We are looking for a Barista/Server to prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, including various types of coffee and tea, as well as coordinate with our kitchen to help guests order and recieve their food.

PLEASE NOTE: Our AM shift runs from 6:30am-2pm. PM shift runs from 2pm-8pm. Applicants with Saturday availability are appreciated.

Barista/Server responsibilities include educating customers on our drinks menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items, and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates. You should be able to work minimum of 2 shifts per week. Note: this position’s compensation includes hourly pay and tips. Ultimately, you’ll ensure an excellent experience for our guests.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers as they enter
• Give customers drink menus and answer questions regarding items offered
• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
• Prepare beverages and food items following recipes
• Serve beverages and prepared food, like cookies, pastries, muffins, and ice cream
• Take and send customer food orders
• Communicate with the kitchen to ensure guests recieve their food in a timely manner
• Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
• Keep the restaurant/cafe clean
• Maintain stock of clean equipment
• Ensure brewing equipment operates properly and report any maintenance needs
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Communicate customer feedback and recommend new menu items

Skills

• Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress preferred
• Flexibility to work various shifts
• Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
• Excellent communication skills
• Food Handler's card or willingness to obtain required
