Care Assistant (Day or Night)
Care Assistant reporting to: Senior Carer & Registered Manager
Job Overview:
To provide support with the current needs of our residents and respecting their wishes as detailed in their person-centred support plan.
Location: Kenton, Harrow
Working Hours: Monday to Sunday, between 8am to 8pm, and 8pm to 8am, dependent on rota requirements. Part-time and full-time hours available. Day, night & weekend shift availability.

Experience: NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent in Health & Social Care
Key responsibilities
- Support people in accordance with their needs and wishes as detailed in their person-centred support plans to enhance their wellbeing.
- To contribute to the efficient running of the service.
- Ensure that care plans and other information about how to best support a resident are followed.
- Act as a champion in care to be able to lead and support other staff.
- Safeguard vulnerable adults recognizing and report any disclosure, suspicion or evidence of harm, risk of harm, abuse or neglect in line with Gencare Safeguarding procedures.
- Accurately complete documentation, including resident support records, health and safety checks and daily procedures logs.
- Be able to administer medication
- Be responsible for informing seniors and management about changes in the needs of the residents.
- Supporting residents with enjoying and preparing a meal, personal care, activities and following their care plan to ensure that they have the best outcomes
- Support people to develop and maintain good family relationships and a range of friendships.
- Deliver personal care with dignity and respect.
- Support people to stay healthy and safe, following guidance from health professionals where health support is required.
- Preparing food for residents
- Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the home / housekeeping
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, family members and professionals, verbally and in writing to people that are important to our residents.
- Attend all training, including induction training, team meetings and individual supervision meetings as required.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Recording Responsibilities
- Ensure that support plans reflect the changing needs and wishes of our residents by contributing to regular monitoring and review their care needs.
Person specification
- Able to develop effective working relationships with other employees at Gencare promoting the passion for care in a home from home environment.
- Be professional, polite and attentive at all times.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic IT skills and numerical ability.
- Understand the regulatory framework that governs the service including CQC and their requirements
- Available for flexible working patterns including evenings, weekends, and nights as required.
- Experience of communicating with professionals or other agencies.
- Attend mandatory training and any other training as required by the manager.
- Understand and follow all policies and procedures relevant to your role.
