Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time - Permanent

Hours: 12-hour shifts

We're looking for a committed, compassionate Residential Support Worker to join our child-centred residential team, offering care that goes beyond the basics, care that builds futures.

Your Role:

As a Waking Night Residential Support Worker, you’ll play a vital role in making sure the home remains a safe, calm, and supportive space throughout the night. You'll be present, attentive, and nurturing helping children feel secure even during the most vulnerable hours. Whether you're offering reassurance after a nightmare, supporting a young person who’s struggling to sleep, or simply keeping the home settled and safe, you’ll make a real difference every night.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building trusting relationships with children and young people through patience, empathy, and genuine care
  • Maintaining a calm and stable environment throughout the night, including emotional support and bedtime routines
  • Monitoring young people overnight and responding to any needs in a timely, sensitive, and supportive way
  • Safeguarding and Protecting: Always upholding safeguarding procedures, identifying and reporting concerns appropriately
  • Recording and reporting accurately: Maintaining high standards of documentation and handovers for the day team
  • Supporting early morning routines including preparing breakfast and getting young people ready for their day
  • Contributing to regular reviews and care plans, ensuring young people’s voices remain central
  • Working closely with the wider team to ensure consistent, high-quality care
  • Taking part in reflective supervision, training and contributing to a positive, child-focused team culture

This is an emotionally demanding but deeply rewarding role, requiring a calm, thoughtful, and child-centred approach at all times.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Skilled Communicator: Able to engage effectively and work collaboratively with young people, families, and multi-agency professionals
  • IT Proficient: Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook to write and edit reports, care plans and professional communications
  • Approachable & Professional: Emotionally intelligent, consistent, and values-driven
  • Full Driving Licence is required: Transporting young people, to and from education, health appointments and independent time is required.

We’re seeking individuals who are not only qualified and experienced, but also emotionally intelligent, reflective, and passionate about providing children with security and belonging.

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Are resilient and able to manage the emotional demands of working with young people who may display challenging behaviour
  • Can remain calm and regulated, especially in high-stress or crisis situations
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills, and are able to present information clearly and professionally
  • Have experience or awareness of attachment theory, trauma-informed care, and safeguarding principles
  • Can take initiative and work independently, but also value teamwork and collaborative decision-making
  • Are proactive in developing your own practice, open to feedback, and committed to learning
  • Are reliable, consistent, and can offer emotional containment to young people
  • Have a good sense of humour, warmth and a genuine commitment to making a difference

  • Annual Leave: 240 hours - Equivalent of 30 days inclusive of bank holidays, with 1 day increase biennialto a maximum of 36 days.
