Job Overview
I am seeking a dedicated & compassionate Personal AssistantAide to support a single 85-year-old individual diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in a private home setting. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring & maintaining the safety and quality of life for a single individual by providing direct support & assistance with dressing/undressing, bathing, toileting, etc. This position requires a strong commitment to the patient’s rights and the ability to perform various caregiving tasks, including oral medication administration and meal preparation.
Duties
- Assist HIGHLY MOBILE Alzheimer’s patient (with a history of wandering) with personal care plan, ensuring his needs are met with dignity & respect.
- Provide in-home direct support in daily living activities, including bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, meal preparation, oral medication, first aid (if necessary), light housekeeping, etc.
- Administer medications as prescribed.
- Prepare meals according to patient’s ordinary/unremarkable dietary preferences.
- Ensure the safety & well-being of patient by monitoring his health & behavior.
- Maintain accurate documentation of care plan & resident progress.
Skills
- Ability to perform light-medium lifting (kitchen garbage bag[s]), light housekeeping, and assist patient with wandering issues.
- Experience in nursing or direct support roles is highly valued.
- Proficiency in oral medication administration practices & first aid (if necessary).
- Light ordinary/unremarkable cooking skills with the ability to prepare nutritious and/or pre-prepared (or frozen) meals tailored to individual‘s dietary preferences
- Communication skills, both verbal & written, to effectively interact with patient, his family, and other aides.
- Compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help patient improve his quality of life.
- Ability to drive with your own car is a plus, but not required.
