Job Description
As a football official you will be responsible for overseeing games, ensuring fair play, and enforcing the rules of the sport. This role requires strong communication skills to effectively interact with players, coaches and spectators. Your premium skills in conflict management and sports coaching will be essential in maintaining a positive environment during games.
Additionally, experience working with school aged and adolescent kids will enhance your ability to engage young athletes. An ability to stand, walk and run, at times, for up to 2 to 4 hours is desired. You will also be expected to travel to local schools and parks in the area where contests are held.
This is an independent contractor position. All expenses (background checks, uniform, mileage, etc.) can be claimed based on your tax situation.
Training and Education:
Prior to the start of the season, the chapter will walk you through the following:
- Register with the PIAA
- Navigate you through obtaining your State and Federal Clearances
- Walk through learning basic rules
- Prepare you for the online football exam
- Help you pass the PIAA Football exam
- Provide on-field training opportunities
Responsibilities:
- Officiate football games, ensuring adherence to rules and regulations.
- Communicate effectively with players, coaches and spectators to maintain positive game atmosphere.
- Manage conflicts on the field with professionalism and authority.
- Provide guidance and support to young athletes, fostering their development in the sport.
- Collaborate with other officials to ensure fair play and accurate game outcomes.

Minimum requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Complete Background Checks: FBI fingerprint, PA Criminal Background and PA Child Line (Initially, then every 5 years)
- Reliable Transportation
- Attend in-season meetings as required by the PIAA
Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
