Full-Time Nanny Needed for Warm, Creative Family in Scarsdale, NY

A warm and welcoming family recently relocated from California to Scarsdale, NY is seeking an experienced, proactive full-time nanny to care primarily for their 1.5-year-old son. With both parents working from home, the family is looking for someone who can confidently take initiative, manage the day independently, and bring warmth, structure, and creativity to their child’s routine. This is a long-term role with growth potential—once all three children are in school full-time, the position will transition into a family assistant or household management role. The ideal candidate is someone who is kind, resourceful, and knows how to get things done without needing direction. Familiarity with the Scarsdale area is a plus as the family continues to settle into their new community.

The nanny’s primary responsibility will be caring for their youngest child during the day while the older two (ages 5 and 7) are in school full-time. The day begins with nursery school pickup, followed by lunch, nap, and planned activities in the afternoon such as sensory play, art, outdoor walks, or neighborhood adventures. During downtime, the nanny will take initiative to handle tasks like washing bottles, tidying the playroom, organizing children’s belongings, and managing light laundry. Once the toddler is awake, the nanny will offer a snack and continue engaging activities until the older girls return home. Support with after-school transitions, bath time, and light play with the older children will be appreciated, though the main focus remains on the toddler. The family may also ask for help scheduling children’s appointments or handling occasional child-related errands. They are looking for someone who is flexible, trustworthy, and brings positivity, humor, and structure to their home.

This position offers 40+ hours per week, with a temporary increase to 45 hours per week during the month of August. General hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, and Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 PM to 8:00–8:30 PM, depending on the parents’ schedules. Flexibility to stay later for events or date nights, or come early for occasional family needs, is highly valued.

Position Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of professional childcare experience

Valid First Aid/CPR certification for infants and children

Excellent references and a clear background check

Strong communication skills in English

Reliable transportation (no family vehicle provided)

Experience with toddlers and early childhood development

Ability to plan creative, developmentally appropriate activities

Willingness to perform light housekeeping related to the children

Familiarity with the Scarsdale area preferred

Flexibility and a long-term commitment

Compensation & Benefits
