Job Description
Our client, based in Islington, North London, is seeking a smart, humble, and compassionate male Care Assistant with experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This is a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality, person-centred care.
Applicants residing locally are preferred as there is short shifts/early starts required!
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personalised support to a young person with learning disabilities and autism.
- Escort client to and from school and accompany to local community activities (e.g., swimming, library).
- Encourage engagement in meaningful activities and promote social inclusion.
- Assist with personal care, including oral hygiene and general hygiene maintenance.
- Perform light domestic duties to maintain a clean and safe home environment.
- Support behaviour that may challenge, applying a calm and professional approach.
- Maintain accurate care records and follow all relevant care plans and policies.
- Participate in team handovers and ensure punctuality for scheduled shifts.
- Adhere to safeguarding protocols and support the client’s safety and wellbeing.
Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years of professional care experience, particularly with individuals with learning disabilities and autism.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Proactive with strong initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills, including familiarity with communication tools like PECS.
- Compassionate, respectful, and dependable in delivering care.
- Understanding of and ability to manage behaviours that challenge.
- Ability to organise and lead engaging activities tailored to the client’s needs.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with families and professionals.
- Willingness to undertake relevant training and development.
Additional Information:
- Enhanced DBS check and professional references will be required prior to employment.
- Flexibility to work morning, afternoon, and night shifts as part of a rota.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: £12.21-£12.50 per hour
