We have an excellent opportunity for a compassionate, reliable, and enthusiastic Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly, dedicated ward team. As a vital member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to patients on our busy and rewarding ward.
Main Duties:
· To ensure the safety and wellbeing of patients at all times
· To deliver basic care based on policies, procedures and current research and under the instruction /supervision of the registered nurse
· Help patients to access and use the toilet/shower facilities
· Help patients to maintain their personal hygiene and appearance
· Help patients to be comfortable
· Help patients to mobilize as planned
· Promote, monitor and maintain cleanliness in the workplace
· Receive, transmit, store and retrieve information
· Contribute to maintaining the supply of materials and equipment
· Develop and promote effective communication and relationships
· Support patients when distressed
· To participate in induction programmes, in-house training and staff appraisal
· To be familiar with hospital policies and procedures
· To respect confidentiality at all times
· To be involved in the development of standards of care to ensure the highest quality of nursing care
· To ensure that complaints, suggestions and queries are promptly reported to the Ward Manager
· To adhere to the Hospital policy in relation to safe handling, administration, storage and custody of medical products and the provision of the misuse of drugs act, 1971
· Ensure that the ward areas are clean and free from hazards
· Inform ward manager of any hazards identified in the ward area
· Ensure that there are adequate stock levels within the ward area and liaise with the ward manager with regards to stock levels
· Report all accidents/incidents to the ward manager promptly and participate in the investigation of the same.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a healthcare or care setting is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided.
- A genuine interest in helping others and a caring, respectful attitude.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Willingness to work flexible shifts, including weekends and nights, if required.
- A commitment to upholding dignity, confidentiality, and professionalism in patient care.
