Household Manager Nanny
Colorado Construction Solutions LLC
Job Description
Job Title: Household Manager (Part-Time Childcare and Household Duties)
Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, organized, and nurturing Household Manager to join our family in a full-time role (approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday). The ideal candidate will split their time evenly between providing attentive childcare in the mornings and handling household management tasks in the afternoons. This position requires a proactive individual who can seamlessly transition between caring for children and maintaining an efficient home environment. The role emphasizes safety, discretion, and multitasking in a dynamic family setting. Compensation is competitive, based on experience (e.g., $25–$40 per hour), with potential benefits including paid time off, flexible scheduling, and reimbursement for mileage or supplies.
Key Responsibilities
The day will typically be divided as follows: mornings (e.g., 7:00 AM – 12:00 PM) focused on childcare, and afternoons (e.g., 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM) dedicated to household management. Responsibilities may overlap occasionally based on family needs, and flexibility is essential.
Morning Duties: Childcare (Approximately 50% of Time)
- Provide safe, engaging, and age-appropriate care for children (ages 1.5 and 8 years old), including supervision during playtime, educational activities, and outdoor excursions.
- Prepare and serve nutritious breakfasts and snacks, adhering to any dietary restrictions or allergies.
- Assist with morning routines such as dressing, hygiene, and preparing for school or daycare drop-offs/pick-ups if applicable.
- Plan and facilitate interactive activities to promote development, such as reading, arts and crafts, light educational games, or physical play to encourage motor skills and creativity.
- Monitor children's health and well-being, administering basic first aid as needed and communicating any concerns (e.g., illness or behavioral issues) to parents promptly.
- Maintain a clean and organized play area, ensuring toys and supplies are sanitized and stored properly after use.
- Foster a positive, supportive environment that aligns with family values, including enforcing gentle discipline and promoting good manners.
Afternoon Duties: Household Management (Approximately 50% of Time)
- Oversee daily household operations, including light cleaning (e.g., vacuuming, dusting, bathroom sanitization) and deep cleaning on a rotating schedule (e.g., kitchen appliances or windows).
- Manage laundry tasks, such as washing, folding, ironing, and organizing clothing for family members.
- Handle grocery shopping, meal planning, and preparation of family dinners or meal preps, focusing on healthy, balanced options while managing budgets and inventory to minimize waste.
- Run errands as needed, including dry cleaning pick-ups, post office visits, pet care, or coordinating with vendors for home maintenance (e.g., scheduling repairs or deliveries).
- Organize household spaces, such as closets, pantries, and home offices, to ensure efficiency and reduce clutter; may include seasonal tasks like wardrobe rotations.
- Assist with administrative duties, such as managing family calendars, paying bills online, responding to emails on behalf of the household, or coordinating appointments (e.g., doctor's visits or extracurricular activities).
- Perform basic home maintenance checks, like changing light bulbs, watering plants, or ensuring security systems are operational.
- Prepare the home for evenings by setting up dinner tables, tidying common areas, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for the family's return.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years in childcare (e.g., as a nanny, daycare provider, or au pair) and household management (e.g., as a personal assistant or house manager). Experience with multiple children or in busy family environments is preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in early childhood education, hospitality, or a related field is a plus. CPR/First Aid certification is mandatory (or willingness to obtain within the first month).
Skills
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities to handle split duties efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for interacting with children, parents, and external contacts.
- Nurturing and patient demeanor with children, combined with problem-solving skills for household tasks.
- Proficiency in basic technology (e.g., smartphones, calendars apps like Google Calendar, or shopping apps).
- Physical stamina to keep up with active children and perform household chores (e.g., lifting up to 30 lbs).
- Discretion and trustworthiness, with a clean background check and driving record (valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required for errands).
- Personal Attributes: Reliable, punctual, and adaptable; must be comfortable working independently while aligning with family preferences. A positive attitude, attention to detail, and cultural sensitivity are essential.
Availability: Full-time availability during weekdays; occasional evenings or weekends may be requested with advance notice and additional compensation.
