Job Description

As an integral part of a team, the Housekeeper I-Overnight is responsible for continuously looking for ways to improve each guest’s experience from providing exceptional guest service to clean guest rooms, public areas, function rooms, elevators, F&B outlets and all other areas in hotels as assigned.

Distribution of newspapers to guestrooms, ensuring the hotel’s established standards of cleanliness and guest service excellences, providing an ambience of ‘home away from home’. Responsible for reporting any maintenance discrepancies and handling guest’s requests or complaints. To include welcome drinks and fruits amenities as needed during this shift.
Ensures the confidentiality and security of all guest rooms.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Greet and acknowledge all arriving/departing guests.
2. Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of work areas at all times.

3. Maintain complete knowledge of:
a. Departmental opening and closing procedures.
b. Daily staffing requirements, assignments, and documentations.
4. Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance, use of equipment, floor care and carpet maintenance.
5. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.
6. Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
7. Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
8. Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
9. Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas
10. Use correct cleaning chemicals for designated surfaces, according to OSHA, Blood borne pathogen, safety regulations and hotel requirements.
11. Mandatory recordation of sweep logs for public areas.
12. Check with supervisor and Housekeeping office for additional assignments throughout the shift.
13. When assigned to guest floors always have security in mind – always know the guest name prior to entry of rooms
14. Empty trash containers and ashtrays continuously
15. Continuous upkeep cleanliness of public areas free of dust, litters and stains
16. Replenish all amenities as assigned to your location and to hotel standard par
17. Dusting, wiping & polishing of all surfaces to include walls, baseboards, artwork, elevator surfaces mirror – free of litters, smudges and dust\
18. Realign furniture to floor plan as per hotel standard set up
19. Report Lost & Found to housekeeping office.
20. Inspect condition of all furniture for tears, rips and stains, report damages to supervisor or office.
21. Transport any Room Service trays/items in guest hallways to service elevator landings.
22. Rotate mattress as per schedule given by supervisor, deep clean rooms as assigned.
23. Ensure proper and update informational folios in public areas
24. Clean ice bucket (no dents) and wipe refrigerator. Drinking glasses free of smudges. Wipe dry ice bucket. Call for replenishment of drinks upon checkout
25. Vacuum thoroughly and use crevice tool for corners, etc
26. Clean all lamps light fixtures and light switches; check for proper working condition.
27. Remove dust, spots and smears from windows, louvers, frames and ledges; and other projects as assigned.
28. Scrub bathroom & shower walls and floor, to include toilet
29. Inspect condition of planters and plants; remove debris, polish planters.
30. Spot carpet
31. Remove dust, dirt, marks and fingerprints from doors and door frames.
32. Wipe and polish all chrome surfaces.
33. Empty trash containers, ashtrays and ash urns in rooms, landing areas & all other areas.
34. Remove trash; debris and cobwebs, mop lanai, wipe rails in lanais
35. Empty vacuum cleaner bags, replace and clean machines.
36. Provide timely delivery of any items requested by guests. Retrieve items from guest rooms and return to proper storage areas.
37. Report maintenance problems, any security concerns immediately
38. Handle guest requests for shoeshines/laundry as requested by guests; call runner to retrieve shoes/laundry from guest room and return to guest room.
39. Report any damages or maintenance problems to the Supervisor; submit quota of work orders as assigned by housekeeping management
40. Public areas wet floor signs and rain mats during wet weather,
41. Ensure security of guest room access and hotel property.
42. Neaten cart, closet and replenish stock as assigned
43. Perform all other duties as may be required or assigned.

Reports To: Executive Housekeeper, Assistant Housekeeper, Senior Housekeeper, Working Supervisor, Housekeeper II - Night

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate.
  • Any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Ability to anticipate guest needs; respond promptly and acknowledge all guests.
  • Ensure familiarity with all hotel services/features to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and have the ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to maintain positive guest relations at all times.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.   • Ability to exert physical effort in transporting minimum of 25 lbs to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to stand/walk for up to 8 hours throughout work shift.
  • Good eye for details in touch, feel, sight fixtures for dust, tears, damages, stains, etc.
  • Constant interruptions within work shifts and areas
  • Maneuver cart and equipment
  • Remain in continuous positions in standing, walking, squatting, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, wiping, climbing hand over hand, sweeping, mopping, bending, grasping, during work shift.
