Job Overview
The HR Specialist - Employee Relations is responsible for providing administrative, technical, and logistical support to the Director of Employee Relations in the daily coordination of employee relations activities, investigations, documentation, and communication. This role ensures efficient operations, accurate recordkeeping, and timely response to employee matters while maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Harmony Public Schools.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience (preferred)
- Experience in HR or K-12 education (preferred)
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understands and supports the mission, vision and values of Harmony Public Schools.
- Provides direct administrative, technical, and logistical support to the Director of Employee Relations, including scheduling, correspondence, and preparation of reports and presentations.
- Maintains confidential employee relations, investigation, and discipline files in accordance with district policy and legal requirements.
- Tracks and monitors employee relations cases to ensure timely follow-up and resolution.
- Assists in the preparation of responses to inquiries from internal and external entities such as EEOC, TWC, TEA, and public information requests.
- Coordinates logistics for grievance hearings, employee meetings, and training sessions.
- Supports the intake and documentation of employee complaints and workplace concerns.
- Assists in gathering background information and documentation for investigations and disciplinary actions.
- Prepares draft reports, letters, and summaries for review by the Director of Employee Relations.
- Communicates courteously and professionally with employees and administrators regarding policies, procedures, and general employee relations matters.
- Helps monitor implementation of corrective actions and training plans resulting from investigations or disciplinary actions.
- Assists in scheduling and coordinating meetings between the Director of Employee Relations, campus administrators, and district leaders.
- Supports the development and dissemination of updated employee relations materials, policies, and communications.
- Maintains and updates employee relations data systems and case management logs.
- Generates periodic reports on employee relations trends, case activity, and training participation.
- Assists with research and data collection related to policy review, compliance, and best practices in employee relations.
- Assists in preparing materials for employee relations and compliance trainings.
- Maintains updated versions of handbooks, policies, and procedures as directed by the Director of Employee Relations.
- Supports communication of new or revised policies to campuses and departments
- Handles sensitive information with the highest degree of confidentiality and discretion.
- Maintains positive and effective working relationships with staff, administrators, and external partners.
- Participates in ongoing professional development and training opportunities as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Strong customer service, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in data entry, document management, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to manage confidential information responsibly.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism, tact, and diplomacy in all interactions
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
- Ability to use computer including software, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine and telephone.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Light Work: may require the occasional light lifting.
- Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
- Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
- Moderate travel is required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $56,000.00 - $93,100.00 per year
