Labourer - Night Shift

Overview
Reporting directly to the Vessels/Spooling Foreman and Lead hands, a Plant 1 Labourer’s purpose is to keep the Vessels/Spooling work area clean and orderly, and to assist the trades, and other duties as may be assigned.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Follow written and verbal instructions from the Foreman/Lead Hand
• Clean, organize, and sweep the work area and yard as required
• Assist trades as required
• Move parts and materials in a safe and competent manner
• Operate shop equipment in a safe and competent manner
• Use of basic hand tools and power tools
• Assist in other areas of shop as required and assigned by Foreman/Lead Hand
• Participate in Compass Safety Program and worksite inspections
• Review Compass Safe Job and Safe Work Procedures related to activities performed
• Identify hazards on job site and use proper controls to mitigate hazards
• Ask questions if unsure of any task or procedure

Education, Skills and Experience

• Interest and ability to move into an apprenticeship pipefitter position
• Strong attention to safe work procedures
• Forklift driving and overhead crane operation
• Competence in handling standard tools and equipment

Physical Demands

• Requires the ability to assume and maintain various physical positions, including bending, squatting, climbing, stooping, twisting, and reaching, to perform tasks across different environments
• Requires employee to have ability to be on their feet for 10-hour shift
• Must be able to lift or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
• Must wear required PPE, including fire retardant clothing, hard hats, face shields, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, respirator as required
