Position Summary:
Reporting to the manager, the Lead Technician – Commercial Refrigeration is responsible for the installation, testing, and commissioning of commercial refrigeration, HVAC, lighting, and energy management systems in grocery stores and cold storage facilities. Work includes both new installations and retrofit projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, program, and test HVAC, refrigeration, and lighting control systems.
- Perform copper pipe soldering, install PVC drainpipe, thermostatic valves, and blower coils.
- Identify and repair leaks, lay out and install coolers, and maintain refrigeration components.
- Coordinate job setup, including logistics, tools, and materials.
- Follow safety protocols (OSHA, local codes), and communicate effectively with customers and trades.
- Maintain truck inventory and ensure vehicle upkeep (if applicable).
- Deliver projects on time and ensure customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Red Seal (Refrigeration & A/C) preferred; min. 8000 hours journeyman-level experience.
- 10+ years in commercial refrigeration (supermarket experience preferred).
- Proficient in mechanical systems, controls, and troubleshooting.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel across Ontario province and work nights/weekends.
- Physically capable: lifting up to 60 lbs, rooftop and ladder work, outdoor conditions.
- Intermediate computer skills (Windows, Outlook, Excel).
- Key skills: brazing, blueprint reading, mechanical aptitude, communication.
