Job Summary:
Timothy Hill Academy provides private residential care for at-risk teenagers. The role of live-in mentor will provide the foundation of a family environment for young men in residence by fulfilling a parental role and providing supervision.
Ideally, the role of live-in youth mentor(s) would be filled by someone with a passion to serve at-risk youth. The position requires a willingness to reside in the home with up to 8 teenage boys and act as a mentor, walking them through their daily routines and providing guidance and care. The mentor(s) will provide supervision overnight and during assigned shifts, and assist in activity planning and execution.
This position could be filled by both an individual or a couple. (However, there is not housing for children.)
Previous experience in either a residential, ministry or social work setting is STRONGLY preferred.
Live in Youth Mentor will be a salaried position. Additionally, you will also receive free housing and associated living expenses.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create a healthy, loving environment in the home.
- Provide for the well being of the young people in the home, helping to prepare meals, ensuring good hygiene, directing them in completing chores, monitoring the general health of the residents, etc.
- Demonstrate an ability to implement rules and boundaries in a caring, understanding fashion.
- Handle conflict in a productive manner.
- Engage in healthy recreation with the residents.
- Provide transportation for residents as needed.
- Provide proper supervision throughout assigned shifts and overnight.
- Perform other program duties as scheduled.

Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred.
- TCI certification prior to employment
- Ministry or social work experience STRONGLY preferred.
Required Background:
- Must have a valid Tennessee State driver’s license.
- Criminal background check - Fingerprinting through the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and FBI
- TN DCS Abuse/Maltreatment Registry Check
- Local Law Enforcement Check
- TN DOH Vulnerable Persons Abuse Registry (VPAR)
- National Sex Offender Registry Check
- Any other background checks required by TN DCS
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
