POSITION TITLE: MEDICATION TECH
SUPERVISOR: RESIDENT CARE COORDINATOR/WELLNESS DIRECTOR
FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
Job Summary
The Medication Tech is responsible for all of the duties in relation to safely administering
medications and treatments to the residents. It also requires a maturity and responsible
attitude in order for the residents to have confidence in ability to administer medications
and treatments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
First and foremost, be a Arbor Village at Hillcrest brand and culture ambassador. It is a
requirement to learn and communicate Arbor Village at Hillcrest’s Values, Mission, and
Culture Keys while present in the communities.
1. Responsible for fulfilling daily, weekly and monthly job checklist duties. *See
attached job duties checklist.
2. 3. Is knowledgeable of company policy and procedure.
Reads, Understands and appropriately documents on the 24 hour communication
reports; Understands the resident alert status and documents appropriately in the
resident’s record.
4. Legible, accurate documentation on the medication record.
5. Understands and appropriately initiates an interim service plan; Ensures the
Caregivers are aware of changes on the service plan.
6. Assists resident with transportation and appointments as needed.
7. Notifies RCC/Executive Director/Wellness Director of resident change of condition.
8. Faxes medication orders to pharmacy.
9. Faxes physician as care needs arise or as instructed by Wellness Director/RCC.
10. Notifies physician when pre-authorizations are required or medications not
covered by insurance.
11. Assists with re-ordering of medications.
12. Assists with monthly medication records as needed.
13. Monitors medication when it arrives from the pharmacy.
14. Notifies the pharmacy of discrepancies as soon as they are found.
15. Maintains the cleanliness and organization of the med room and medication
cart.
16. Orders supplies as directed by the RCC.
17. Has knowledge of, and can demonstrate proper technique, or can learn how to
assist with: a gait belt, lifts, transfer board, oxygen equipment, C-pap/Bi-pap,
nebulizer, catheter, specimen collection, wheel chair, scooter, scale and any
other equipment as direct by the RCC/WD.
18. Capable of taking accurate vital signs and weights and notifying WD of
discrepancies.
19. Accurately completes an incident report and begins the investigation.

20. Accurately completes a medication error report if necessary.
21. Notifies family, physician, resident and management if incident or errors occur
while on shift.
22. General record keeping and filing as needed.
23. Administers the medications and treatments, according to the scheduled times,
following the medication administration protocol.
24. Fill in as a Caregivers when needed.
25. Serves meals as requested.
26. Notifies supervisor or management if abnormal incidents or errors occur while on
shift; Call for assistance if you are unsure how to manage a situation while on duty.
27. Answers call lights when needed.
28. Conduct yourself and the business at all times so as not to distract from, or to reflect
adversely on the reputation of the Community.
29. Reports to work in a safe manner and understands that potentially hazardous
conditions are managed; Compliance with Safety Committee Standards is
required.
30. Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
At times the position might include manager on duty and a responsibility to act within the
scope of your practice.
31. Ensures that there is adequate staff scheduled on shift; Notify ED/RCC when there
is not enough staff scheduled

standardized situations.
Computer Skills
Knowledge of computerized medication administration and documentation, on-line
employee training programs.

Job Summary
The Caregiver is responsible for all duties in relation to safely providing for the resident
care and well-being. It requires a mature and responsible attitude and the ability to
establish confidence in the resident population regarding their care needs.

2. Understand the resident’s alert status including changes of condition and what to
be aware of concerning the assistant; Report changes immediately to your
supervisor or management.
3. Reads, understands and appropriately documents on the 24 hour communication
reports.
4. Understand and agree to follow the resident’s service plan and keep updated as
care needs change.
5. Assists with all care needs the resident may have (bathing, transferring, toileting,
ambulating, personal hygiene, dressing, etc.).
6. 7. Assist with dining room service (set up, take orders, serve, bus tables).
Assist with activities and appointments when required and/or be responsible for
getting the resident to a scheduled activity.
8. Delivers and re-stocks the resident’s incontinent supplies.
9. Collects and disposes of trash in designated receptacles.
10. Wash, dry, fold and put away (as requested) resident personal laundry.
11. Make beds neatly.
12. Has knowledge and can demonstrate proper technique, after appropriate
instruction with various equipment: oxygen tanks, gauges, gait belts, lifts, transfer
boards, hearing aids, glasses, catheters, urine collection, transfer poles, wheel
chairs, walkers, scales.
13. Takes weights as instructed.
14. Can complete an incident report.
15. Assist with housekeeping duties as assigned: dusting, sweeping, mopping, re-
stocking items, wiping down tables, chairs and hand rails, vacuuming, polishing,
and cleaning bathrooms.
16. Maintains general cleanliness of the resident’s apartment and reports any frayed
or broken equipment to supervisor or Maintenance Director.
17. Does not disrupt the resident’s belongings when in the apartment unless
specifically asked to do so by the resident.

Criminal Background Check cleared.

Pay: $17.50 - $19.00 per hour
