Nanny/Family Assistant
Househeld
Job Description
A warm and active family in Brooklyn is seeking an experienced, emotionally intelligent career nanny to care for their two school-aged children. The schedule is Monday–Friday, 12:00 PM–8:00 PM, with flexibility for occasional overnights and travel. Additional availability is needed during school breaks, when the children are home sick, and for occasional trips to the family’s country home (1–2 weeks in summer and occasional weekends). The nanny will have most of July and August off when the family is in their summer home.
Responsibilities include preparing healthy meals, assisting with homework, promoting good reading habits, reinforcing manners and positive discipline, coordinating and shuttling/driving to activities, planning fun and engaging outings, supporting dinner and bedtime routines, managing the children’s laundry, and keeping common areas clean and organized. The role also includes light cleaning and doing dishes as needed. Additionally, the position will involve family assistant duties such as stocking the home with supplies, helping with household errands, managing the children’s calendars, and coordinating vendors and deliveries.
Qualified candidates will have at least 5 years of professional experience working in a private household, a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, excellent organizational skills, strong judgment, and the ability to maintain professional boundaries while fostering a warm and supportive environment. This is a wonderful opportunity to work with respectful, appreciative employers who value clear communication and a collaborative partnership. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. and provide outstanding references.
The position is expected to start in late August or early September.
