Newborn Night Nurse, In-home (RN)
We are a pediatric telehealth practice opening this Fall. In addition to pediatric telehealth visits and membership plans, we utilize in-home night nurses, lactation consultants, postpartum doulas, and virtual mental health providers to help create individualized care for each newborn and family. Our Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (PNPs) will be available to night nurses during all shifts for questions or support.
We are currently hiring a pool of night nurses in Chicago for future placement. This will be a 1099 contractor position, with the ability to accept clients that fit your own availability. We work with families to set hours that fit their needs; we offer options for 8, 10, and 12 hour shifts. There are no annual minimum shift requirements for our contracted night nurses.
Responsibilities:
- Care for newborns in family home overnight; Provide nurturing care, feeding, diaper changes, and ensure babies’ wellbeing and comfort
- Assess breastfeeding and provide support as needed to help breastfeeding/lactating parents establish and maintain adequate milk supply
- Small household support tasks relating to infant, such as sanitizing bottles and pump equipment, maintaining tidy space in infant rooms
- Additional postpartum doula support for Mom based on experience and additional certification/qualifications
- HIPAA compliant communication with families and Huddle team members
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing in Illinois
- Current BLS/CPR certification (AHA or equivalent)
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
- A compassionate and culturally sensitive approach
- Ability to pass required background check and drug screen
- RN: 5 years preferably caring for newborns (NICU, newborn nursery, mother/baby, private in home experience with newborns)
- Experience supporting lactating parents
- Ability to work nights
- Ability to accept multiple assignments of varying lengths (ie, 2 weeks - 12 month contracts based on individual family needs to ensure continuity of care)
- Reliable transportation
Preferred Qualifications:
- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
- Postpartum doula certification
- Desire to work 24-40 hours per week for 9-10 months of the year
