Job Description of a Hotel Night Auditor

A hotel night auditor is primarily responsible for overseeing hotel operations during the night shift, typically from late evening until early morning. They manage front desk activities, perform nightly accounting duties, and serve as the point of contact for guests. This role requires an individual who is detail-oriented, responsible, and capable of working independently.

Duties and Responsibilities1. Front Desk Operations

· Handle late-night arrivals and early morning departures, ensuring the check-in/check-out process is efficient and in compliance with hotel policies.

· Process new reservations, modifications, and cancellations.

· Manage room allocations and ensure that all guest preferences are noted and accommodated where possible.

· Respond to guest inquiries in person, via phone, or by email, providing information about hotel services, local attractions, and directions.

· Respond to guest inquiries, concerns and complaints as needed.

· Communicate with maintenance and housekeeping departments to ensure the reliability and cleanliness of hotel amenities.

· Issue and track room keys.

· Provide information about rooms, rates and hotel amenities.

· Communicate important information to the next shift and other departments as required.

2. Nightly Financial Audit

· Running end-of-day reports before the close of the shift.

· Balancing cash drawers and reconciling with receipts.

· Post room charges, taxes, Restaurant & Lounge transactions, and other guest-related expenses to accounts accurately and timely.

· Maintain thorough and accurate records of all transactions for audit and compliance purposes.

3. Security and Safety

· Serve as the primary contact for emergencies, including medical situations, fire alarms, or security threats. Follow established emergency protocols and notify relevant authorities as needed.

· Document and report any security or safety incidents occurring during the shift.

· Ensure that hotel policies regarding guest and staff safety are upheld at all times during the night.

4. Administrative Duties

· Communicate important developments and incomplete tasks to the incoming morning shift to ensure continuity.

· Monitor front desk supplies and stationery, requesting replenishment as needed.

5. Customer Service Excellence

· Provide courteous, professional, and attentive service, even during late hours, representing the hotel brand positively to all guests.

· Address guest concerns efficiently ensuring prompt resolutions and logging all issues for follow-up.

· Accommodate and document guest requests, including wake-up calls, late check-outs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

· Availability to work overnight.

· Basic Excel knowledge is a must.

· Friendly, helpful attitude toward guests and other staff members.

· An eye for detail.

· Good problem-solving skills.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills.

· Trustworthiness in handling sensitive financial and guest information.

· Ability to think critically and act decisively in challenging situations, especially emergencies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
