Operations Manager - Night Shift

Position Summary

Here at XPO, we take our people seriously. We’re looking for a talented Operations Manager on the night shift to join us on a full-time, permanent basis. You’ll be working Monday to Friday, 15:00-00:00, with flexibility to work any 5 from 7. To manage our Tesco operations at our Widnes depot. You’ll be leading your team to ensure overnight – time critical service levels are maintained whilst ensuring that the 350 assets are constantly compliant.

We’re looking to offer a salary of up to £40,000 per annum. In addition, we offer 33 days’ holiday inclusive of bank holidays as there’s a requirement to work bank holidays on this 24/7 account. What you’ll do on a typical day:

• Management of 14 office colleagues and 210 ungraded colleagues (excluding agency) plus subcontractors
• Manage the overall operation of the depot on a night-to-night basis ensuring that agreed targets are achieved in line with business and customer requirements.
• Monitor planning and dispatch performance and make decisions to protect Customer Service
• Ensure the Site is legally compliant by ensuring correct processes are in place, have an owner and are monitored.
• Ensure reporting deadlines are met for both Financial and Compliance requirements.
• Proactively promote a health & safety culture
• Support & encourage a good team working spirit and ensure that the transport team work effectively with the Planning team and communicate frequently to achieve the business objectives
• Follow all HR requirements in relation to disciplinary, absence management and return to work situations
• Maximise the potential of new employees by ensuring their operational and psychological engagement and their continual development within the business.
• Ensure appropriate understanding to enable individuals to meet their role requirements and to create involvement and engagement through two-way communication mechanisms.

What you need to succeed at XPO:

• Understanding of key operational cost drivers and P&L or cost centre management
• Great People Management and Leadership skills
• A track record of resolving complex issues and delivering results in a fast-paced environment
• Experience supervising or managing a team in a complex logistics transport environment
