IDAX is a transportation data collection company providing public agencies and private clients with accurate and meaningful traffic data to serve any data-related needs that they may have. Position Summary:
The Field Technician is responsible for putting out and picking up transportation data collection equipment in the field (Outside). This includes cameras and road side tube counter units as well as some manual in field collection, such as parking data. The successful candidate will be a highly organized and detail-oriented thinker with the desire to work most hours outside in the field, sometimes in inclement weather and at odd hours. This role will includes manual efforts & data entry. Directional orientation and navigational skill is a must.
Job responsibilities include:
- Travel & Site Logistics:
- Safely drive to and from the office and various job sites, occasionally requiring overnight stays for remote locations or extended work durations.
- Ensure all transportation and route planning adhere to company safety standards and time-sensitive requirements.
- Equipment Management:
- Set up and retrieve data collection equipment at designated field locations, ensuring all tools are properly configured and maintained.
- Handle and transport equipment with care, especially in inclement weather or challenging outdoor conditions (extreme temperatures, rough terrain).
- Perform routine checks and troubleshooting of equipment to ensure accurate data collection and minimal downtime.
- Field Data Collection:
- Execute manual data collection activities, which may include counting vehicles, measuring traffic via radar, recording pedestrian/bike movements, or gathering other relevant data points as required by the project.
- Follow established protocols for data accuracy, ensuring the collection of high-quality and precise data under various environmental conditions.
- Data Entry & Reporting:
- Enter field-collected data into the appropriate digital systems with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain proper documentation, ensuring that all collected data is clearly labeled, organized, and easily accessible for analysis and reporting.
- Task Completion & Problem-Solving:
- Perform a wide range of tasks required to complete each job, from setting up equipment to ensuring the job meets safety and data accuracy standards.
- Prioritize safety by following established procedures and guidelines while working in potentially hazardous conditions or near traffic.
- Utilize navigation skills (both manual and digital) to reach job sites efficiently and safely.
- Respond to unforeseen issues, adjusting plans as necessary to ensure tasks are completed effectively and efficiently.
- Public Interaction & Professionalism:
- Interact with the public and other stakeholders as needed, ensuring a professional, courteous, and helpful attitude at all times.
- Address any public inquiries related to the fieldwork in a manner that promotes the company’s positive reputation.
- Represent the company by maintaining a professional appearance, demeanor, and communication in all situations.
- Time Management & Organization:
- Manage time effectively by prioritizing tasks, staying on schedule, and adhering to deadlines.
- Maintain meticulous records of all activities, ensuring that tasks, data, and equipment are well-organized for ease of use and reporting.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and industry regulations while working in the field, including traffic safety, equipment handling, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others, mitigating potential hazards and reporting unsafe conditions as needed.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure projects are completed to specifications.
- Support project managers and senior technicians in the planning and execution of field activities as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- CO driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Desire and willingness to work outdoors, sometimes during inclement weather and at odd hours when needed
- Flexible schedule - at times this position will require long days (12 hours), weekend, work, early morning or late night
- Ability to read maps and navigate to job sites – a strong sense of direction and attention to detail is a must
- A constant vigilance for safety in order to protect the field crew in various traffic conditions
- Willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done
- Learn quickly - able to get up to speed with new software programs and training
- Basic competency in Microsoft Excel is preferred
- Punctuality and time management skills are required
- Smart phone is required

90% paid employee only medical, dental, and vision 1st of the month following successful completion of 60 day temporary period. We also offer PTO and 401k.
