Work Environment:
- Hospital or clinical setting.
- Shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays depending on patient needs.
- Provide direct, one-on-one observation of patients at risk of harming themselves or interfering with medical equipment such as IV lines, feeding tubes, or catheters.
- Monitor and report changes in patient behavior, mood, or physical condition to nursing staff promptly.
- Offer compassionate support and reassurance to patients experiencing confusion, agitation, or emotional distress.
- Ensure a safe and calm environment by following established protocols and maintaining situational awareness.
- Collaborate with nursing and clinical teams to support patient care plans and safety measures.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold patient dignity at all times.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- No prior healthcare experience necessary; on-the-job training provided.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain attentive and responsive for extended periods.
- Commitment to patient safety and compassionate care.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire; training provided through Children’s Mercy.De-escalation training provided through Children’s Mercy.

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home.
