The Role

As a Manufacturing Operative at Clayton Glass, your role is crucial in the manufacturing and processing of high-quality glass products. You will support our production processes, maintain top-notch quality, and adhere to safety standards, keeping our operations running seamlessly through the night.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operating Machinery: You will be responsible for operating various machines involved in cutting, shaping, and processing glass. This includes following operational instructions and adhering to safety guidelines.
• Handling and Processing Glass: Safely loading and unloading glass onto production lines or machines, ensuring that glass sheets or components are handled with care to avoid damage.
• Quality Control: Conducting quality checks on finished glass products to identify any defects, such as cracks or chips, and reporting any issues to your supervisor.
• Assembly and Packaging: Assisting with the assembly of glass units, such as double glazing, and packaging products for safe transportation or further production stages.
• Safety and Maintenance: Ensuring all tasks are performed in compliance with health and safety regulations. You will also conduct basic maintenance checks on equipment and report any faults or malfunctions.
• Material Handling: Moving raw materials to the production area and organizing inventory as needed to keep the production process flowing smoothly.
• General Production Support: Working closely with your team to meet production targets, maintaining a clean workspace, and supporting various tasks as needed to ensure an efficient workflow.

Essential Criteria:

• A team player with strong interpersonal skills and consideration for others.
• Able to follow instructions accurately and perform tasks diligently.
• Punctual, with a strong attendance record, and fully committed to your shift hours.
• Manual dexterity. Good hand-eye coordination and physical fitness, as the role involves lifting and standing.
• Driving Licence

Desirable (Non-Essential) Criteria:

• Previous experience in a factory or manufacturing environment.
• Flexibility in working hours, with the ability to work night shifts if required.
• Possession of a valid Forklift Truck [FLT] licence for handling stock efficiently.

Additional Information:

• Location: Clayton Glass, Century House, Roman Road, Blackburn, BB1 2LD
• Working Hours / Shift Pattern: 37.5 hours per week with rotating weekly shifts:
• Week 1: 06:00 am - 14:00 pm
• Week 2: 14:00 pm - 22:00 pm
• Hourly Rate: £13.05
• Standard Weekly Pay: £489.38 (based on 37.5 hours)
