Job Description
This is an experienced position responsible for bulk receiving operations by rail car, maintenance of associated parts/equipment, and providing back-up support to other roles. This position is also responsible for the cleanliness of the general plant area, with an emphasis in the rail yard.
This is a NIGHT SHIFT position. The hours are from 4pm-4am.
The pay range for this position is $16.50/hr to $17.50/hr. The Company offers paid vacation time, paid sick leave, medical, dental and vision plans as well as a 401(k) with employer match.
- Unload bulk commodities from rail cars
- Operate locomotive, trackmobile, forklift, and other equipment to support production
- Switch rail cars within rail yard for product offload into receiving pits.
- Maintain radio communication with other rail team members and supervisor.
- Operate augers, belt-driven machinery, and elevators used in the production process.
- Operate various machinery to support production.
- Clean-up leftover product around silos, receiving pits and rails.
- Clear documentation of bulk receiving records and rail car seals to maintain traceability.
- Functionally cross-trained in other support roles.
- Perform routine maintenance of all equipment associated with the rail receiving process.
- Report any observed product quality issues to appropriate manager/supervisor
- Perform repetitive movement (e.g. pushing/pulling leg controls) with both feet.
- Perform repetitive tasks (e.g. grasping objects, fine manipulation, push/pull, assemble objects, etc) with both hands.
- Provide back-up support for other roles as necessary.
- Available for overtime work on a scheduled or call-in basis, as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.
- A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Two (2) years’ related experience preferred.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Basic operating knowledge of augers, belt-driven machinery, elevators, and other equipment used in the production process.
- Multi-task and handle continuous interruptions without losing focus.
- Concentrate and remain focused despite repeated interruptions.
- Strong follow-through skills.

- Safely operate all yard equipment referenced in the essential duties.
- Able to work on a time deadline and follow instructions.
- Perform critical thinking and troubleshoot.
- Write clearly and legibly to keep detailed and accurate records.
- Frequently lift/carry objects weighing up to and including 50 pounds.
- Frequently twist, stoop, kneel, crawl, bend, climb, push, and/or pull.
- Frequently reach for objects in performance of the specific essential job tasks.
- Occasionally lift/move/push/pull objects weighing up to and including 100 pounds.
- Occasionally perform overhead lifting of objects weighing up to and including 50 pounds, with or without assistance.
- Vision sufficient to safely perform the specific essential jobs tasks outlined.
- Continuously exposed to outdoor/uncontrolled weather conditions.
- Regularly exposed to work near moving parts/equipment.
- Regularly exposed to major amounts of dust.
- Regularly exposed to moderate to severe noise levels.
- Occasionally exposed to chemicals used in the manufacturing process.
