We are looking for an experienced Nurse with a passion for enhancing the quality of life for the people we support and who can make a difference to the lives of our residents. Preferably you will have previous nursing home knowledge and have worked in a nursing home setting.
JOB SUMMARY To work autonomously taking responsibility for care, quality and clinical activity by providing professional nursing leadership and guidance, clinical advice and management in relation to the key dimensions of care quality: -
- Resident safety
- Collaborative person-centred care planning
- Effective delivery of care and clinical interventions
- Positive resident experience to ensure the delivery of effective nursing care which meets the needs of individuals, families and communities in line with local and national development plans, company policies and procedures
Key Responsibilities
Staff:
- Provide leadership and direction to the care teams in the home to endure that residents are supported to live in a safe and caring stimulation environment.
- Conduct and record supervisions and appraisals with allocated care team members, setting and reviewing suitable objectives for development.
- Support with the ongoing development of the care team, including acting as a mentor to newly recruited colleagues and students on placement.
- Contribute fully to team working, responding positively to colleagues and actioning all reasonable work instructions promptly.
- Attend relevant staff meetings and training as required.
Operational:
- Participate in implementing agreed clinical developments.
- Ensure that care is directed in line with regulatory guidelines and legislation.
- Act as a contact for residents and relatives in regard to clinical and care needs.
- Monitor standards of care delivered by care staff via observation and direct involvement, ensuring that all residents receive quality nursing and personal care and that care plans are fully maintained.
- Act at all times inline with NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- Demonstrate a transparent approach to reporting and responding to safeguarding incidents.
- Support the Home Manager in ensuring compliance with health and safety measures related to residents’ care and comfort.
Residents:
- Liaise with other healthcare professionals to support residents with specialist care interventions and funding assessments.
- Act courteously toward residents and their visitors, respecting the dignity and individuality of each resident and ensuring that effective communication is maintained.
- Monitor the wellbeing of each resident, being aware of any change impacting on care and care plans, ensuring that new needs are met and written records are amended to reflect any variation.
- Promote and support positive risk taking for residents.
Monitor the use of safe systems of work across the range of tasks and in particular moving and handling of residents, by assessing risks and having due regard for personal safety and the safety of residents, visitors and staff.
All trained nurses work in accordance with company policies and the NMC Code of Conduct.
