General Job Description:
Empowers struggling students to advance through the LEVEL SYSTEM to achieve academic goals, gain soft and hard skills through work-based learning, and participate in faith-based character education.
Responsibilities/Functions:
- Model Crossing’s Core Values and 7 Habits in effective leadership.
- Follow Best Practices in operation of campus model.
- Form positive relationships with students and engage with them regularly.
- Provide timely reports to all stakeholders.
- Demonstrates strong commitment to the Crossing’s mission, strategic plan, and students.
- Supports strategic plan initiatives in the areas of funding, fullday programming, students served, and the Indiana Department of Education compliance.
- Models effective leadership consistent with the Crossing’s Professional Growth Model Structure.
- Quickly responds to feedback and organizationwide strategic plan initiatives.
- Ensures all locations operate in a safe and orderly manner.
- Ensures that proper curriculum, credits, and certificates are taught and earned within the context of Indiana Graduation Pathways.
- Ensures that students of record are progressing towards ontime high school graduation.
- Collaborates with parents, students, public school personnel, Special Education staff, Administration to establish and implement a plan for each student’s academic coursework, and regularly monitor progress.
- Frequently communicates each student’s academic and WBL plan with students, parents, and community stakeholders regarding student’s shortand long term goals, progress towards goals, and obstacles to achievement of goals.
- Proactively identify and troubleshoot obstacles to graduation.
- Create and maintain academic records (attendance, behavior logs, grades).
- Teach small learning groups or remediation courses, as dictated by campus needs.
- Participate in Family Nights and Campus Activities a minimum of once a semester.
- Works with Campus Team to meet student placement and participation goals.
- Ensure campus follows the organization’s Best Practices in establishing a welldefined operation model.
- Develop programs to sustain student placement in WBL for assigned campuses.
- Develop and maintain relationships with potential businesses who will host WBL Experiences for students.
- Works with Human Resources to understand the Department of Labor guidelines for all student workers.
- Provide and place graduating students in job placement opportunities at nonpoverty wages.
- Forms positive relationships with students. Advocates for students when needed.
- Regularly interacts with and actively listens to students to learn about their stories, challenges, and motivations.
- Regularly and appropriately engages students after school hours.
- Holds students accountable for their behavior, and implements appropriate discipline.
- Ensures that students of records receive highquality faithbased character education.
- Leads Family Time, God Talk, spiritual retreats as dictated by campus need.
- Models the Crossing’s core values in daily life.
- Volunteer time in Extended Learning Opportunities as well as Family Night, Spiritual Retreats, and Prom (if applicable) throughout the year (may be on weekends/after hours and possible overnights).
- Other duties as assigned by Direct and/or Indirect report.
