- Leading the snowmaking team to safely and efficiently produce snow to support early-season openings, terrain coverage goals, and ongoing replenishment needs.
- Coordinating with other departments to align snow production with grooming, terrain park builds, and event schedules.
- Monitoring weather, temperature, humidity, and system performance to maximize snow output while minimizing resource usage.
- Maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing snowmaking infrastructure including fan guns, air/water guns, hydrants, valves, pumps, compressors, and electrical systems.
- Training new snowmaking staff on safe operation and proper snowmaking techniques.
- Managing snowmaking system improvements and capital projects.
- Leading summer projects related to infrastructure improvements, preventative maintenance, and off-season upgrades.
- Ensuring all operations are conducted with a strong commitment to safety, sustainability, and efficiency.
- Contributing to departmental planning, budgeting, and equipment purchasing decisions.
This is an active, hands-on position in a rugged mountain environment. Work takes place outdoors in all weather conditions including cold, wind, snow, and ice. You must be comfortable working at night, on steep and uneven terrain, and in proximity to high-pressure water and air systems. The role also includes administrative duties such as scheduling, reporting, and inventory management, which may be performed in an office setting.
- 3+ years of snowmaking experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or management capacity.
- Strong working knowledge of air/water and fan-based snowmaking systems.
- Familiarity with high-voltage equipment, pump stations, and snowmaking automation (preferred).
- Proven ability to lead a team in a high-risk, high-output environment.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs, operate snowmobiles/ATVs, and work in low-visibility conditions.
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred or ability to obtain.
- Must be comfortable working in extreme mountain weather conditions.
