This position is responsible for planning, managing, and executing our snowmaking strategy to ensure quality snow coverage throughout the mountain. You’ll lead a team of dedicated snowmakers, work closely with other departments such as grooming, terrain parks, and lift operations, and oversee the maintenance and repair of snowmaking equipment year-round.
This is a full-time, year-round opportunity that offers leadership responsibilities during the winter season and project-based work, planning, and maintenance in the summer months. We’re looking for a motivated, hands-on individual with strong technical skills and the ability to manage a team in a dynamic outdoor environment.
Perks & Benefits:
  • Starting Salary $68,640
  • Paid Flexible time off
  • Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits for full-time, year-round employees
  • Full access to the Bunker—Woodward Tahoe’s indoor training facility with trampolines, foam pits, skateparks, and more
  • Discounts on food, retail, and gear
  • Discounts for friends and family
  • Work in a fun, supportive, mountain-town environment
  • Career advancement opportunities across the Woodward and POWDR network

What You'll Be Doing:
  • Leading the snowmaking team to safely and efficiently produce snow to support early-season openings, terrain coverage goals, and ongoing replenishment needs.
  • Coordinating with other departments to align snow production with grooming, terrain park builds, and event schedules.
  • Monitoring weather, temperature, humidity, and system performance to maximize snow output while minimizing resource usage.
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing snowmaking infrastructure including fan guns, air/water guns, hydrants, valves, pumps, compressors, and electrical systems.
  • Training new snowmaking staff on safe operation and proper snowmaking techniques.

Work Environment:

This is an active, hands-on position in a rugged mountain environment. Work takes place outdoors in all weather conditions including cold, wind, snow, and ice. You must be comfortable working at night, on steep and uneven terrain, and in proximity to high-pressure water and air systems. The role also includes administrative duties such as scheduling, reporting, and inventory management, which may be performed in an office setting.
During the winter, snowmaking operates 24/7, and managers are expected to be available for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts as needed. In the off-season, the schedule becomes more project-focused with a standard daytime schedule and some flexibility.
Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of snowmaking experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Strong working knowledge of air/water and fan-based snowmaking systems.
  • Familiarity with high-voltage equipment, pump stations, and snowmaking automation (preferred).
  • Proven ability to lead a team in a high-risk, high-output environment.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs, operate snowmobiles/ATVs, and work in low-visibility conditions.
