Position Overview:
Michigan Nanny Solutions is delighted to present a unique opportunity for a warm, flexible, and professional Part-Time Temporary Nanny to join a growing family in Grand Rapids who is expecting their first baby in July. Parents would like their Nanny to start in mid-September 2025 when the baby girl is two months old, and support them through her first birthday, as the family will move out of state for work in August 2026.

As an emergency department physician, the mom works an average of 14 shifts per month and will need nanny coverage for approximately 10 of her shifts. No weekends or overnights will be required! Nanny will be scheduled to work an average of 2-3 shifts per week, with each shift being 10 hours long. While some weeks will require more hours from the nanny (potential of 3-4 shifts/30-40 hours some weeks), there will also be weeks where the nanny is only needed for 1 shift, or not at all! Nanny will be guaranteed pay for 20 hours per week, even if needed for fewer, and will be paid for every hour worked over 20 each week when needed for more.

Shifts will occur on weekdays (Monday through Friday), with 4 possible 10-hour shifts: 6AM–4PM, 8AM–6PM, 1PM-11PM, or 2PM–12AM. You’ll rarely work more than 10 days (or 100 hours total) in a month and will always receive pay for a minimum of 20 hours per week even if working fewer, with overtime pay for any hours worked beyond 40 in a week (a rare, but possible, occurrence).

Your Responsibilities:

Intentional & Engaging Infant Care: Provide nurturing, safe, and attentive care for the baby girl from newborn through her first birthday! In addition to managing her daily care of feedings, changing, and overseeing naps, you’ll be encouraged to plan engaging activities that encourage fine and gross motor skill development, sensory exploration, and early learning. The family would love you to include outdoor play time or walks in your days together when baby is still tiny, and start doing social outings like story times and playdates when she’s over 6 months old.
Household Support: Handle light child-related housekeeping such as washing bottles, baby dishes, and baby laundry, sanitizing toys, cleaning up after playtime and other activities, and maintaining a tidy, organized environment in the nursery and play spaces.
Pet Care: Let the family’s shy but sweet 6-year-old border collie outside to the backyard a few times per day. No dog walks or direct care required.

Who We’re Looking For:

Experience: You have at least three years of professional childcare experience, with a strong foundation in infant care. You understand the unique needs of newborns and infants, are confident providing independent, attentive care. A focus on early development and encouraging milestones is highly valued by this family!
Skills & Personality: You’re calm, reliable, and deeply maternal in your approach to caregiving. You thrive in solo-care environments and are comfortable managing a household independently while parents are away. You are punctual, adaptable, and love building engaging and loving routines for infants. Bonus points if you’re outdoorsy, enjoy reading, and feel comfortable around dogs!
Professionalism: You are a dependable, trustworthy professional who understands the importance of showing up on time—especially for parents in the medical field who cannot be late or cancel last minute. You’re able to problem-solve independently, make safe and appropriate choices, and maintain a calm and consistent caregiving rhythm throughout the day.

Additional Requirements:

At least 21 years old and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days)
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Willingness to use your vehicle for outings once the baby is 6+ months (car seat provided and mileage reimbursed)
Up-to-date on DTaP and annual flu vaccine; COVID vaccine not required
Ability to pass a thorough background check, motor vehicle report, and drug test

Perks and Benefits:

Competitive Pay: Earn $24–$26 per hour, depending on experience and education.
Guaranteed Hours: Receive a minimum of 20 hours/week, with any additional worked hours compensated, including overtime when applicable. Plan to work around 100 hours each month, with 10 shifts spread over 4-5 weeks.
Advance Scheduling: You’ll receive your schedule in 1-month blocks, with at least 6 weeks of advanced notice so you can plan ahead. You will also be able to submit day-off requests when mom submits hers to her scheduler (at least 2 months in advance) to ensure you’re never scheduled to work on a day you’d like or need off. Save your PTO for family vacations instead!
Supportive Family Environment: Work with kind, respectful parents who are open to welcoming an experienced nanny who has their own newborn/infant who will come to work with them! Ideally, your baby would be within 1 month of age of theirs and on a similar daily sleep and feeding schedule.
