Salary Range: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour; actual compensation may vary due to other factors, such as experience, skill set, or location.

Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has an exciting opportunity available for a traffic technician to join our transportation group at our Charleston, WV office location. There are two Limited Term Employee positions available, and work can begin as early as December 2025 and will last until May 2026, or longer. This position is paid hourly, and any time worked beyond 40 hours per week will be paid at time-and-a-half.
Responsibilities include:
- Collecting traffic data and travel behavior surveys using a variety of data collection methods including video, pneumatic tubes, and in-person visits. Data collected includes average daily traffic counts, turning movement counts, parking studies, field inventories, and travel time studies.
This position requires working outside in a variety of conditions on a regular basis.
Travel to work sites throughout the state is an essential function of this position; a valid driver’s license is required. Extended hours, a flexible schedule with ability to work both day and night shifts in the same week and overnight stays may be required.
Successful candidate will have the following:
- High School diploma or equivalent Associate’s degree –or
- - two (2) years of experience in a comparable work environment is preferred
Ideal candidates will have any/all of the following:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and Word
- Experience reading maps
- Willingness to work near traffic
- Experience using pneumatic-tube traffic counting devices
