Job Description

Overview

The Unit Coordinator (Night Shift) will provide night shift leadership, oversee the implementation of behavioral protocols and data collection, ensure that inpatients on the Neurobehavioral Unit (NBU) are provided with direct care services by organizing staff resources, coordinate unit activities, maintain an appropriate patient care environment, and provide direct care as needed with minimal supervision. The incumbent will work nights, some evenings, and weekends, with a requirement to work at least 75% of their shifts during the night shift (typically from 9:00 PM -7:30 AM).

Responsibilities

  • Organize and direct staff resources to ensure provision of direct care services for all inpatients.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing for patient care by implementing on-call procedures as necessary and following guidelines for maintaining staff-to-patient ratios.
  • Conduct shift changes. Review and explain behavioral protocol updates.
  • Assist Program Specialists with coordination and implementation of Neurobehavioral Unit (NBU) activities.
  • Assign and ensure completion of shift-specific duties by Clinical Assistants.
  • Provide positive and corrective performance feedback to Clinical Assistants as needed and provide input into Clinical Assistant performance appraisals.
  • Provide direct patient care as needed including the review and implementation of behavioral protocols and following data collection procedures.
  • Resolve staff concerns and unit problems in a timely, constructive manner.
  • Ensure safe, clean and well-supplied treatment areas.
  • Facilitate communication between Clinical Assistants and supervisors/faculty.

Qualifications

EDUCATION:

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, special education, human services, or related field of study is strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum one (1) year of previous experience providing direct care services to individuals with disabilities and behavioral problems is required.
  • Two or more years of experience is preferred.
  • Previous leadership responsibilities and supervisory experience are preferred.
