What To Expect
We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter to join our vehicle data collection team. As a Prototype Vehicle Operator, you will be responsible for driving an engineering vehicle for extended periods, conducting dynamic audio and camera data collection for testing and training purposes. Access to the data collected is limited to the applicable development team. This role requires a high level of flexibility, strong attention to detail, excellent driving skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
This opportunity will require the flexibility of traveling to domestic or international destinations, as necessary.
Schedules available are listed below. Flexible start and end times. The afternoon and night shifts pay 10% in addition to the hourly base pay for the role.
Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday
Day Shift: 6:00AM - 2:30PM or 8:00AM - 4:30PM
Afternoon Shift: 2:00PM - 10:30PM or 4:00PM - 12:30AM
Night Shift: 10:00PM-6:30AM or 12:00AM-8:30AM
What You'll Do
Drive an engineering vehicle for extended hours in a designated area for data collection, 5 to 8 hours daily
Start/Stop recording devices and perform minor equipment/software debugging as needed
Analyze and report on the quality of data collected during each shift
Provide feedback and suggest process improvements to optimize data collection
Write detailed daily drive reports documenting observations and issues
Ensure the vehicle’s safety and operational status before every shift
What You'll Bring
Valid driver's license required
Excellent attention to detail and highly observant during data collection
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
Tech-savvy with experience managing tools for data collection and troubleshooting with advanced PC skills, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite
Familiarity with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and Autonomous Driving Systems (ADS)
Ability to work a flexible schedule including Day/Night shifts and one day per weekend. Overtime is also typical for this position but not guaranteed
This is a safety-sensitive position, subject to drug testing in accordance with Tesla policy and applicable law

Expected Compensation
Test Operator I - $25.25 - $27.60/hour
Test Operator II - $28.75 - $30.60/hour
+ cash and stock awards + benefits for all levels
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
