Job Description
The Yard and Shop Specialist is a 2nd shift (2:00 pm-11:00 pm) role that is responsible for ensuring all company vehicles, equipment, and materials are prepared, organized, and ready for use by field crews at the start of each day. This overnight role is essential to the smooth operation of our business, ensuring that crews depart on time, with clean trucks, organized trailers, and all necessary tools, plants, and supplies. The position requires a high level of attention to detail, physical stamina, and pride in maintaining the standards and reputation of The Loving Companies.
What Success Looks Like
- Load crew trucks and trailers nightly with all assigned materials, plants, trees, and equipment based on daily work orders.
- Stage all tools, irrigation supplies, fertilizers, and accessories in advance to ensure quick loading and morning efficiency.
- Inspect trucks and trailers for cleanliness and safety each night, removing debris, dirt, or leftover materials.
- Perform weekly washing of trucks to maintain a professional, clean fleet that represents the company standard.
- Monitor nursery irrigation systems and adjust as needed to ensure healthy trees, shrubs, and plants.
- Inspect plant material nightly for signs of stress or damage and notify leadership of issues.
- Safely unload tree and shrub delivery trucks, carefully staging materials in holding areas without damage.Maintain the shop, yard, and plant holding areas in an orderly, clean, and safe condition at all times.
- Organize materials, tools, and plant stock so items can be easily located and accessed by crews.
- Perform nightly sweeping, trash removal, and organization of the warehouse and yard to keep work areas professional and hazard-free.
- Complete and maintain a nightly operations checklist to verify all duties have been completed before morning.

What Sets You Apart
- Must be available and willing to work second shift 2:00 pm-11:00 pm consistently, ensuring all prep work is completed before morning crew departures.
- 2–3 years of experience in landscaping operations, nursery work, warehouse logistics, or yard/fleet support.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years of driving history and provide a clean 3-year MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) that meets company and insurance standards.
- Previous hands-on experience cleaning, fueling, or staging company vehicles and trailers for daily use.
- Familiarity with plant care, irrigation systems, and safe unloading/staging of trees, shrubs, and plant materials.
- Experience using or maintaining forklifts, pallet jacks, skid steers, or similar equipment (certifications preferred).
- Ability to maintain a clean, orderly, and well-stocked yard/warehouse that supports efficient daily crew operations.
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, peers, and field crews, with a collaborative and professional approach.
- Basic mechanical skills to assist with troubleshooting, minor repairs, or upkeep of small tools and irrigation equipment.
